The video-opera Renacer dramatizes the meta-topic of “creation” itself—that is, the root (radicality) of the creative act and all its meanings—in order to infuse life into an original and personal musical universe.The music, the texts, and the video maintain a thematic and dramatic unity based on the natural cycles of germination, birth, and re-birth, all of the above featuring narrative and reflective overtones, always open to an infinite number of interpretations.

The opera runs in a single stroke, passing through fifteen poems framed by visual scenes.The plot swings between the figurative and the abstract, the rational and the irrational, halfway between the visible and the indecipherable, “between reality and desire,” a binomial that Alberto Carretero frequently uses in his music. A multifaceted, almost labyrinthine dramaturgy is proposed, which is projected from the present to the future.

The musical conception of instrumental and electronic sounds is very close to the human voice in terms of its articulations, colors, and ornaments.This leads to metamorphoses or hybridizations of the material itself, creating situations in which sonic landscapes converge, diverge, or confront each other in a game of tensions and intensities that configure the architecture of the piece, which in turn is inspired by the structures and processes of life.Thus, colors and organic shapes seem to dance, shaping a game of tensions of opening, closure, expansion, interlacing, sinking, emersion, etcetera.

The spectator will perceive different stimuli in the diverse sonic, textual, and visual spaces, which will place them on the threshold of artistic genesis. As a common thread, nature appears, which, in its infinite possibilities, is shown as a model for maximum power of germination and regeneration. As a metaphor for creation, nature is full presence—it has no past.
